R O T A T I O N

This tut was written on March 17, 2011.
It is written using PSPX; I'm sure the same effects are available in other versions.

SUPPLIES
A tube.
I'm using the work of Ismael Rac.
You may purchase a license to use this work at his storeHERE.

The following filters:
Flaming Pear - Flexify 2
MuRa's Meister - Copies
DSB Flux - Bright Noise

Font of choice (I'm using "Cider Script")

Let's begin!

Choose two colors from your tube, a lighter color for the foreground and a darker for the background.
Prepare a foreground linear gradient - Angle = 0, Repeats = 0, you want the lighter color on top.

Open a new image, 600x250.

Fill with your gradient.

Flaming Pear - Flexify 2 using the following setting:

There will be four small triangles (likely purple triangles), one in each corner.
We need to remove them.
Using your magic wand (set at Add (Shift)), click in each small triangle.
Selections - Modify - Expand by 3.
DELETE.

Image - Rotate - Left, 45.

Mura's Meister - Copies using the Line preset.
Crop to 600x250.

Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance.

Add a new layer.
Selections - Select All.
Selections - Modify - Select Selection Borders using Inside, 2, Anti-alias unchecked.
Fill the selection with your gradient.
Selections - Select None.

Image - Free Rotate - Left, 45.
Crop to 600x250.

MuRa's Meister - Copies using the Line preset, but change the number from 8 to 25.

Using the magic wand, click on one of either the lighter or the darker bars.
This will be the color that is animated.

Selections - Modify - Select Color Range, using the default setting.
(You may have to change the tolerance to 20.)
Change the color in the box to match the color you selected with the magic wand.
The idea is to have "marching ants" around ALL the bars of your chosen color.

Selections - Promote Selection to layer.
Selections - Select None.

Highlight the NON-promoted layer.
Add a small drop shadow (Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow, I used 1, 1, 50, 5, black.)

Highlight the promoted layer.
Duplicate this layer twice (for a total of three layers.)
On each of these three layers, DSB Flux - Bright Noise using Intensity - 47.
Click the MIX button each time.

Highlight the top layer.
Add your tube, and a drop shadow (I used Lokas 3D Shadow.)

Add a new layer.
Add a 2px Selection border, using your dark color.

Add your name and all necessary copyright information.
You may wish to add some word art, or make your own.

For this simple effect, I duplicated the layer with the name.
On the bottom layer, MuRa's Meister - Copies changing the Line preset to 4, 0, 100.
Change the layer setting of the MuRa's layer to Soft Light.

Animate as usual.

For the avatar:

Duplicate your tag (Shift + D.)

Delete the layer with your tube.

Crop to 150x150.

Add a new layer.

Add a 2px Selection border, using your dark color.

Add your name  (or initial) and all necessary copyright information.

You may, if you wish, animate.

Here is another example, using the work of Elias Chatzoudis:
