F A D I N G

This tut was written on June 15, 2010.
It is written using PSPX; I'm sure the same effects are available in other versions.

SUPPLIES
A tube.
I'm using the work of Elias Chatzoudis. You need to purchase a license to use this work from MPT.

The following filters:
Funhouse - Emission Mirror
MuRa's Meister - Copies

Font of choice (I'm using "Grenouille")

Let's begin!

Choose two colors from your tube, a lighter shade in the foreground and a darker shade of the same color in the background.

Open a new image, 600x250

Make a background gradient of Linear, Angle = 135, Repeats = 5.

Floodfill your image with the gradient.

Effects - Artistic Effects - Contours using the following setting:

Duplicate this layer.

Funhouse - Emission Mirror using the default setting.

Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance.

Change the layer setting of this layer to Multiply, change the opacity to 38.

Change your background color to a contrasting color from your tube.

Set the background gradient to Fading Background with Linear, Angle = 90, Repeats = 0.

Add a new layer.

Selection tool - Custom Selection using the following setting:

Floodfill with the Fading Background gradient.

Selections - Select None.

MuRa's Meister - Copies - Line preset using the following setting:

Duplicate this layer.

Image - Mirror.

Effects - Image Effects - Offset using the following setting:

Add your tube.

Add the drop shadow of your choice.
I use Eye Candy 5 Impact - Perspective Shadow with the Blurry preset.

Add a 2pixel Selections Border using your dark color.

Add your name and all necessary copyright information.

Save as a .png.

For the avatar:

This is a fun, easy way to make exactly the avatar you want.

Open a new image,150x150.

Highlight your bottom Contours layer on your tag.
Left Click on it, hold it down, and drag it over to your 150x150 image.

Highlight your Emission Mirror layer on your tag.
Left Click on it, hold it down, and drag it over to your 150x150 image.
Use the Move tool to position into place.

On your tag, highlight either of your Fading Background layers.
Left Click on it, hold it down, and drag it over to your 150x150 image.
Use the Move tool to position into place.

On the 150x150 image, you should have a blank layer at the bottom.
Move the blank layer to the top, and add your 2pixel Selections Border.

Add your name (or initial.)

Here is another example, using the work of Rion Vernon

Awesome tut Rich, ty!

The only hitch was with the Funhouse filter, I wasn't sure what the default settings were!  I just used what mine was set on & it was ok!!
