S W I R L

This tut was written on May 15, 2010.
It is written using PSPX; I'm sure the same effects are available in other versions.

SUPPLIES
Two tubes,  one a closeup.
I'm using the work of Elias Chatzoudis. You need to purchase a license to use this work from MPT.

The following filters:
Eye Candy 4000 - Swirl and Shadowlab
Mura's Meister - Copies (optional)
AAA Filters - Transparent Frame

Font of choice (I'm using "A&S Signwriter")

Let's begin!

Pick two colors from your tube.

Open a new image, 600x250.

Floodfill with a gradient made from your colors (Linear, Angle = 0, Repeats = 4).

Add a new layer.

Selections - Select All.

Copy your tube, and Paste - Paste into Selection.

Selections - Select None.

Adjust - Blur - Radial Blur using the following settings:

Effects - Distortion Effects - Wave using the following settings:

Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance

Add your close-up tube, moving it to the right.
Change the layer setting to Soft Light.

Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.

Duplicate this layer.

On the top layer, Eye Candy 4000 - Swirl using the Wispy preset.

Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance.

Change the layer setting to Multiply, and the opacity to 65.

NOTE - This part is totally optional.
(If you wish to skip it, just scroll down to the point where the font turns black again.)

Change your background color to white, foreground = Nill.

Using the preset circle tool (set to Vector), draw out a tiny circle, like this:

Objects - Align - Center in Canvas.

Layers - Convert to Raster Layer.

Mura's Meister - Copies using the Tiling preset, but change the Tile Gap to 2.

Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow using 0, 1, 50, 5, Black.

Change the layer setting to Overlay, and the opacity to 22.

Duplicate the bottom layer, and hide the original layer.

Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.

AAA Filters - Transparent Frame using the following setting.

Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow using 0, 0, 100, 10, Black.

Add a new layer.
Add a 2 pixel selection border.
(Selections, Select All.
Selections, Modify, Select Selection Borders - Inside, 2, anti-alias checked.
Fill with your chosen color.)

Add your tube, moving it to the left.

Eye Candy 4000 - Shadowlab using the Faint Drop Shadow preset.

Add your name and all necessary copyright information.

For the avatar:

Duplicate your tag in PSP.

Remove the tube layers.

Crop to 150x150.

Add your 2 pixel selections border.

Add your name (or initial.)
