M O V I E

This tut was written on January 19, 2012.
It is written using PSPX; I'm sure the same effects are available in other versions.

SUPPLIES
An image, one that is wider rather than higher.
I'm using the work of Anna Marine, formerly of CILM.
This artist is currently represented by CDO.

The following filter:
Funhouse - Convergence
Xero - Fritallary

Font of choice (I'm using "P22 Ruthie")

You want an image that is at least 500 pixels wide; 600 pixels will work fine, too.

Crop the image to 500x250 (or 600x250).

Selections Tool - Custom Selection using the following setting:

Edit - Copy

Edit - Paste as New Image.

Image - Resize to 600x250 pixels; Lock Aspect Ratio UNCHECKED.

Funhouse - Convergence using the default setting.

Duplicate this layer.

On the bottom layer, Add/Remove Noise - Add Noise - Uniform 15, Monochrome checked.

On the top layer, Xero - Fritallary using 15, 30, 10, 20.

Change the opacity of the top layer to 50.

Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.

Selection Tool - Custom Selection using the following setting:

DELETE.

Selections - Select None.

Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow using 0, 0, 100, 10, Black.

Pick a color for your border and name.

Add a 2px Selection border, using your chosen color.

Add your name and all necessary copyright information.

Add your image (either 500x250 or 600x250) as a new layer.

Layers - Arrange - Send to Bottom.

Effects - Image Effects - Offset using the following setting:

(If you are using a 600x250 image, change the Horizontal to 100.)

Since this tut is relies heavily on animation, I will walk you through the steps:

Edit - Copy Merged (or CTRL + Shift + C)

In AS, Edit - Paste as New Animation (or CTRL + V)

Back in PSP, Effects - Image Effects - Offset changing the Horizontal number to -50.

Edit - Copy Merged (or CTRL + Shift + C)

In AS, Edit - Paste - After Current Frame (or CTRL + Shift + L)

Back in PSP, Effects - Image Effects - Offset (leave the Horizontal alone).

Edit - Copy Merged (or CTRL + Shift + C)

In AS, Edit - Paste - After Current Frame (or CTRL + Shift + C)

Repeat until you have nine animation frames.

In AS, Edit - Select All.

Change the Frame Properties to 45.

For the avatar:

Duplicate your tag (Shift + D.)

Remove all unnecessary layers.

Crop to 150x150.

Add a new layer.

Add a 2px Selection border, using your chosen color.

Add your name (or initial) and all necessary copyright information.

Here is another example, also using the work of Jon Rattenbury:
