hmmmm...i have windows7 on my lappy, but i don't remember how i got the filters to work Sad

there's a member at The Zone Groups calld "Lithium Flower" who helped, i do know that...

you should be able to get a similar effect by using DSB Flux - Linear Transmission (i think that's what it's called)

right, you want to have a single layer after you add the border, so that is right Smiley

then, change the canvas size to 600x400....

you should have a single column surrounded by a lot of blank space..this is where you do the MuRa's to make several columns

the only other thing i can thing of is....make sure you have a raster layer...
after you have added the border, do Layers - Promote Background Layer...

otherwise, i'm clueless...it's worked for me several times, it's worked for everyone...

maybe someone else will have an idea
6  Rich's Tutorials / Tag tutorials / Re: **New** BORDER on: February 26, 2012, 10:53:00 am
Rich,
I'm having the hardest time with this tut.
I don't know whether it's a senior moment or what.
I start with a black 800x800, add the period, do both Mura copies effects but it doesn't work.
Am I suppose to be adding a layer in there somewhere.
I just end up with one single bordered column on the 800x800 no matter what I do.

Help?

I can usually figure these out but not this one.
It's not even hard to do...whaaaaa!

make sure that when you type the period, that you have your font set to "Create As Vector"
that will put the dot on a separate layer from the black background.

if that doesn't work for you, add a new layer first, then type the period...

that should work...

create as vector, then change to a raster layer...that will allow you to do the MuRa's properly Smiley

hope this helps..

G R A P H

This tut was written on February 23, 2012.
It is written using PSPX; I'm sure the same effects are available in other versions.

SUPPLIES
A tube and a closeup; you may also use a single tube.
I'm using a tube by PinUpToons, formerly of CILM.
A license and others tubes for this artist may be purchased from CDO.

Resize your tube to 400px high.
Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen.

The following filters:
Graphics Plus - Cross Shadow
DSB Flux - Blast
Alien Skin - Eye Candy 5: Impact (or another Glass filter, of choice.)

Font of choice (I used "Billy Argent Font").

You will also need my selections; download the zipped file HERE.
Unzip the file to your Selections folder.

Choose a darker color for your background color, and a lighter shade of the same color for your foreground.

STEP ONE

Open a new image, 125 px wide by 375 pixels high.

Floodfill with your lighter color.

Add your closeup tube as a new layer, moving into position.
Change the setting of this layer to Luminance (Legacy); change the opacity to 60.

Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.

Graphics Plus - Cross Shadow, change all the numbers to 50.

Effects - Texture Effects - Weave; 1, 2, 1, both boxes set to white, Fill Gaps box checked.

Selections - Select All.

Selections - Modify - Select Selection Borders using Inside, 2, Anti-alias unchecked.

Floodfill the selection with your darker color.

Selections - Select None.

STEP TWO

Image - Canvas Size to 350x500, centered.
Change BOTH the Top and Left numbers to 25.
The other numbers will reset automatically.

Duplicate the layer; then Image - Flip and Image - Mirror.

On the copy, Blur - Gaussian Blur using Radius = 10.

DSB Flux - Blast using Left, Percentage = 50.

Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance.

Effects - Texture Effects - Weave, change both boxes to black.
(In the above sample, I used white, but I think black works better.)

Move this layer to the bottom (Layers - Arrange - Send to Bottom.)

STEP THREE

Add a new layer.

Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Disk.
Choose GraphSelection1.

Floodfill the selection with your lighter color; keep selected.

Alien Skin - Eye Candy 5: Impact - Glass using the following setting:

Selections - Select None.

Add a new layer.

Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Disk.
Choose GraphSelection2.

Floodfill the selection with your darker color.

Selections - Select None.

Add a sharp drop shadow (I used 1, 1, 100, 1, black.)

STEP FOUR

Highlight the top closeup tube layer.

Add your resized tube as a new layer, moving into position.
Avoid placing the tube too close to the right edge.
This avoids a sharp edge on your drop shadow (as, unfortunately, seen in the above sample.)
Add a blurry drop shadow (I used 0, 25, 50, 25, black.)

Add the same drop shadow to the closeup tube layer.

Add your name, any word art, and all necessary copyright information.

Here is another example, using another tube by PinUpToons:

This tut was written on February 18, 2012.
It is written using PSPX; I'm sure the same effects are available in other versions.

SUPPLIES
A tube and a closeup; you may also use a single tube.
I'm using an exclusive tube by Jose Cano, formerly of MPT.
A license and others tubes for this artist may be purchased from PTE.

Resize your tube now, if necessary.
Add a blurry drop shadow to your tube (I used 0, 15, 100, 40, black).
Increase the canvas size 50 pixels on each side to avoid unpleasant sharp edges.

These filters:
Filter Factory Gallery F - Scrambler
MuRa's Meister - Copies

Font of choice (I used "Avalon Bold").

You will also need my selections; download the zipped file HERE.
Unzip the file to your Selections folder.

Choose a darker color for your background color, and a lighter shade of the same color for your foreground.
Make a foreground gradient (Linear, Angle = 90, Repeats = 1, you want the darker color in the center).

STEP ONE

Open a new image, 50 px wide by 400 pixels high.

Floodfill with your gradient.

Filter Factory Gallery F - Scrambler using the default setting (Intensity = 27).

Image - Canvas Size to 600x400, centered.

MuRa's Meister - Copies using the Tiling preset at the default setting.

Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance.

This is the background layer; hide it for now.

STEP TWO

Set either of your colors to black; add a new layer.

Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Disk.
Choose ScramblerSelection1.

Floodfill the hearts with black.

Selections - Select None.

Duplicate this layer twice (for a total of three.)

Hide the top heart layer for now.

STEP THREE

Highlight the top unhidden heart layer.

MuRa's Meister - Copies using the H-Tile(line) preset at the default setting.

On the other heart layer, repeat the same effect but change the Shift Y number from -70 to 70.

Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.

Change the opacity of this merged layer to 25.

STEP FOUR

Unhide and highlight the top heart layer.

Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Disk.
Choose ScramblerSelection2.

Floodfill this selection with black.

Selections - Select None.

MuRa's Meister - Copies using the Line preset but change the top three numbers from 8, 100, 0 to 3, 0, 100.

Selection Tool (set to Rectangle), carefully draw a rectangle around the middle of the three elements.

DELETE.

STEP FIVE

Add your closeup and tube (as separate layers), moving it into position.

Move the closeup layer so that it is directly above the background layer.
Change the setting of this layer to Soft Light.

Move the regular-sized tube layer below the top layer.

STEP SIX

Highlight the top hearts layer.

Using your Magic Wand, click anywhere in the space between the two elements.

Selections - Modify - Expand by 1.

Selections - Invert

Hit DELETE on the regular-sized tube layer, the merged hearts layer, and the closeup layer.

Selections - Select None.

Add a 2px Selection border using black.

Add your name, any word art, and all necessary copyright information.

STEP SEVEN

For the forum set tag:

Duplicate your 600x400 tag (Shift + D); crop to 600x250.

Add your 2px Selection border, your name, any word art, and all necessary copyright information.

I found it worked best if I deleted the regular-sized tube layer and added it again as a new layer.
It just looked better to me.

For the avatar:

Duplicate your 600x400 tag (Shift + D) once more; crop to 150x50.

I deleted both tube layers, but you may wish to keep them.

Add your 2px Selection border, your name (or initial), any word art, and all necessary copyright information (if necessary.)

Here is another example, using a popular tube by LegendsArt:
(You'll see that I filled both selections with white.)
