S L I D E

This tut was written on May 25, 2010.
It is written using PSPX; I'm sure the same effects are available in other versions.

SUPPLIES
A tube and a image.
I'm using the work of Sherin Moustafa. You need to purchase a license to use this work from DSI.

The following filters:
Funhouse - Angulate and Radial Mirror
DSB Flux - Bright Noise
Xero - Porcelain (optional)

Font of choice (I'm using "Greyton Script")

Let's begin!

Choose a color from your tube.

Open a new image, 600x600.

Selections - Select All.
Selections - Modify - Select Selection Borders using Inside, 20, Antialias unchecked.

Floodfill with your color.

Selections - Select None.

Set this image aside for a bit.

Working with your image, resize to 600x250 (make sure that Lock aspect ratio is unchecked).

Effects - Image Effects - Seamless Tiling using the default setting.

Duplicate this layer.

Working on the top layer, Adjust - Blur - Radial Blur using the following setting:

Funhouse - Angulate using the default setting.

Bring the copy layer to the top (Layers - Arrange - Bring to top).

Adjust - Blur - Motion Blur using the following setting:

Repeat the Motion Blur.

Adjust - Add/Remove Noise - Add Noise - Gaussian, 15, Monochromatic checked.

Funhouse - Radial Mirror using the default setting.

Change the layer setting of this layer to Soft Light.

Layers - Merge Visible.

Add the frame that you made earlier as a new layer.

Image - Free Rotate - Right, 45, nothing else checked.

Using your Move tool, move so that the frame layer looks like this:

Crop your image to 600x250, to get rid of stray bits you won't need.

Make sure you are working on the layer with the frame.

Using your magic wand, click in the space on both sides of the frame.

Keep the selection, highlight the merged background layer.

Edit - Copy.

Highlight the frame layer.

Add a new layer.

Edit - Paste into Selection.

Selections - Modify - Select Selection Borders changing the 20 to 1.

Floodfill with your color.

Selections - Select None.

Add a blurry drop shadow to this layer.  I used 0, 0, 75, 7, black.

Hide this layer for now.

Working back on the frame layer, use the magic wand on just the right side of the frame.

Add your image as a new layer.

Move into place, then Selections - Invert.

Hit DELETE.

Selections - Select None.

Change the layer setting of this layer to Soft Light and the opacity to 60.

Unhide the top layer, and bring your image layer to the top.

Then, bring the frame layer to the top.

Working on the frame layer, Effects - Image Effects - Offset using the following setting:

Duplicate this layer, and repeat the offset.

Merge these two layers together.

DSB Flux - Bright Noise with Intensity of 45.

Repeat the drop shadow you used earlier (0, 0, 75, 7, black).

Add your tube as a new layer.
You may, if you wish, use Xero - Porcelain using the default setting (but change Blue to 0).
Add a blurry drop shadow.  I used Eye Candy 5 Impact - Perspective Shadow with the Blurry preset.

Add your name and all necessary copyright information.

Hide the background layer, and merge the rest of the layers together.

Duplicate the background layer twice.

DSB Flux - Bright Noise using the same setting as earlier.

Repeat for each layer, but hit the Mix button each time.

Animate as usual.

For the avatar:

Working on your duplicated tag, delete all the layers with art.

Crop to 150x150.

Add a 2 pixel selections border.

Add your name (or initial.)

Here is another example, using the work of Irene Shpak:
