D E C O

This tut was written on January 9, 2012.
It is written using PSPX; I'm sure the same effects are available in other versions.

SUPPLIES
A tube.
I'm using the work of PinUp Toons.
This tube may be purchased from CDO.

The following filters:
MuRa's Meister -  Clouds & Copies
Penta.com - Drag

Font of choice (I'm using "AL Serenade")

Although I will show you how to make the element, I'm including a copy here.
Simply right-click and save to your computer.
Directions for using this option are at the bottom of the tutorial.

Let's begin!

Pick a two colors from your tube.
Try to avoid picking two dark colors.

Open a new image, 600 wide x 250 high.

MuRa's Meister - Cloud using the default setting.
(You may have to click the Reset button.)

Penta.com - Drag using Threshold = 0.

Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance.
Repeat at least once, maybe twice (as long as the colors aren't overly distorted - you only want to enhance the lines.)

Add a new layer.

Selections - Select All.

Selections - Modify - Select Selection Borders using the following setting:

Floodfill the selection with your darker color.

Selections - Select None.

Duplicate this layer.

Effects - Image Effects - Offset using the following setting:

Duplicate this layer.

Repeat the Offset effect.

Hide the bottom Clouds layer.

Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.

Duplicate this layer.

Image - Flip.

Image - Mirror.

Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.

MuRa's Meister - Copies using the Line preset (change the number to 2.)

Now, we are going to fill in some of the squares.

Make sure the Mode on your Magic Wand is set to Add(Shift).

Hold down the Shift key and click inside the following boxes (marked with an "x").
(I've added a white background to make them more visible.)

After you have clicked into all 12 squares, Selections - Modify - Expand by 1.

Floodfill the selection with your darker color.

Selections - Select None.

Adjust - Add/Remove Noise - Add Noise using Uniform, 15, Monochrome checked.

Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow using -2, -2, 68, 5, Black.

If you choose to use the attached element, follow these directions:

After the Cloud layer, add the pre-made element as a new layer.

Selections - Select All.
Selections - Float.
Selections - Defloat.

Add a new layer.

Floodfill the selection with your chosen color.

Selections - Select None.

Adjust - Add/Remove Noise - Add Noise using Uniform, 15, Monochrome checked.

Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow using -2, -2, 68, 5, Black.

Whichever option you choose, the element is done.

Add your tube as a new layer.

Add a blurry drop shadow (I used Eye Candy 5: Impact - Perspective Shadow using the Blurry preset.)

Add a 2px Selection border with the same color you used earlier.
(I've added a sharp drop shadow (1, 1, 100, 1, black and -1, -1, 100, 1, black.)

Add your name and all necessary copyright information.

For the avatar:

Duplicate your tag (Shift + D.)

Remove your tube layer.

Crop to 150x150.

Add a new layer.

Add a 2px Selection border, using your dark color.

Add your name (or initial) and all necessary copyright information.

Here is another example, using the work of Gennadiy Koufay.
This work was purchased from CILM.
The artist is currently represented by CDO.
