T I L I N G

This tut was written on July 12, 2011.
It is written using PSPX; I'm sure the same effects are available in other versions.

SUPPLIES
A tube.
I'm using the work of Renee Biertempfel.
You must purchase a license to use this work at CDO.

The following filters:
Xero - Fritallary
Greg's Factory Output, Vol. II - Pool Shadow
MuRa's Meister - Copies
DSB Flux - Bright Noise

Font of choice (I'm using "SNF Ambrosia")

You will also need this template.
Right click and save to your computer.

Let's begin!

Open the template in PSP.

Pick a color for your background.

Open a new image, 600 wide x 250 high.

Floodfill with black.

Xero - Fritallary using the following setting:

Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance.

Greg's Factory Output, Vol. II - Pool Shadow using the default setting.

Set this aside for a bit.

Open a new image, 25x25.

Floodfill with your chosen color.

Edit - Copy.

On the 600x250 image, Edit - Paste as a New Layer.

MuRa's Meister - Copies using the Tiling (Angle) preset with the following setting:

Change the layer setting to Soft Light.
You may wish to lower the opacity of this layer, depending on the color you've chosen.

Highlight the element image you saved and opened in PSP.

Edit - Copy.

On the 600x250 image, Edit - Paste as a New Layer.

Selections - Select All.
Selections - Float.
Selections - Defloat.

Add a new layer.

Floodfill the selection with your chosen color.

Selections - Select None.

Delete the original element layer.

On each of the three colored layers, DSB Flux - Bright Noise using Intensity - 75.
Click on the radial button in front of Mix each time.

Duplicate the bottom element layer.

On the bottom of the four element layers, Image - Mirror.
Change the opacity of this mirrored layer to 30.

Add your tube, and a blurry drop shadow (I used Eye Candy 5: Impact - Perspective Shadow using the Blurry preset.)

Add a 2px Selection border using either black or your chosen color.

Add your name and all necessary copyright information.

Animate as usual.

For the avatar:

Duplicate your tag (Shift + D.)

Remove the layer with the tube.

Crop to 150x150.

Add a new layer.

Add a 2px Selection border, using the same color you used on your tag.
Add your name  (or initial) and all necessary copyright information.

Here is another example, using the work of Anna Marine:
